This seems to be even more true as the true colors of media outlets are starting to show. At least with most advertisements we know we are being sold a bill of goods. Not as easy to spot the worldviews we are being sold in most media.

Kind of a "people will work toward your expectations". If you expect little, people are usually willing to work toward that goal. On my own, I know I am usually only willing to do the least bit, but because of Christ in me, He helps me work for more than I think is possible.

I thought this quote was erelevant particularly in today's info-saturated world. Just because we have access to all kinds of info does not mean we are any smarter than before. Also, I have learned that the more I learn, the more I realize how much there is to learn. Lots.

Perhaps you have noticed how often comedy touches on the serious side of things. One good example I heard about is the difference between Grey's Anatomy (I've never seen it) and Scrubs (I have). The commentor said that it is interesting that that a drama (Grey's)shys away from serious subjects or treats them callously or disrespectfully; and the comedy (Scrubs) often touches the serious issue with more respct and even reverence for human life.

On the incompetence one....I don't really like that quote. It seems pessimistic. For the most part, with me, I shoot to do more than is required. That would be the difference between trying for an A grade and trying for a B or C. Or I suppose the quote could simply mean that you obviously cannot do something that you do not know. If you have not learned microbiology, you will likely not do well on a test for microbiology. If the quote is meant that way, then I suppose I have to agree.
Physical and mental limitations deem what is a persons optimum challenge goal. Example; I had a Level 3 Down's Syndrome student. It took me two years to teach her the physics and mechanics of how to tie her shoes. Conversely, this accomplishment would equate to my building a computer from scratch. We work with what God gives us to work with. Once my little girl learned to tie her shoes, the world was her oyster. Satisfaction comes from attaining what is viable and realistic.

I definately do not claim to know or agree with the quotes I post. I am mostly posting quotes that get folks thinking or posting in disgust. :-)
