The Enlightened Obama

Sandy Rios at Townhall.com writes this in response to what a few others have written about the "enlightened" Barack Obama.

The Enlightened Obama?

“What Barack Obama has accomplished is the single most extraordinary event that has occurred in the 232 years of the nation’s political history. The event itself is so extraordinary that another chapter could be added to the Bible to chronicle its significance,” declared Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. of Chicago.

Really? I guess by his assessment, the Emancipation Proclamation and Civil War would pale by comparison, as would the assassinations of Lincoln, Kennedy and King. I could go on, but you get my point. A little hyperbole in an emotional moment might be forgiven except for that last part: Another chapter in the Bible for Barack Obama? Shall we pair him with Moses or the Apostle Paul? Would he be part of the Revelation of the end times or was he present at creation?

----This is just absurd for someone to say. I suppose it is Jesse Jackson, so he seems to be allowed to say wacky things without any backlash. She goes on to quote Obama about his own greatness to heal the planet and cause the oceans not to rise.

Still, it’s one thing for adoring crowds to swoon, quite another for the object of the swooning, to declare himself the Democratic candidate, then boldly proclaim:

I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment…

When we began to provide care for the sick and give jobs to the jobless.

This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal….

This was the moment, this was the time….

All this delivered to the backdrop of applause and emotion matching his increasingly fevered pitch until it reached a crescendo which nearly drowned the candidate out.

But no adulation could top that of San Francisco Chronicle writer, Mark Moford, who exuded in his article, “Is Obama an Enlightened Being?”:

Barack Obama isn’t really one of us. Not in the normal way, anyway … it’s not merely his youthful vigor, or handsomeness, or even inspiring rhetoric … It is something more … a sort of powerful luminosity, a unique high-vibration integrity.

----Notice it is not about what his actual policies are about either.

Dismiss it if you like, but I’ve heard from far too many enormously smart, wise, spiritually attuned people who’ve been intuitively blown away by Obama’s presence—not speeches, not policies, but sheer presence…

----He is a likeable guy, but this does not mean he will be good for the country. His actual policies are harmful to the unborn, potentially harmful to our troops and our domestic safety and according to his voting record, he is one of the most liberal senators in 2007.

If he can slow the rise of the oceans and bring healing to the earth, then maybe he does deserve his own chapter in the Bible. If he can teach us a “new way of being on the planet” and inspire the San Francisco Chronicle to opine about the possibility of a god, then maybe this is the most remarkable political event in our 232-year history.

But, if I had to guess, I would say that the oceans will rise and fall in spite of his nomination. The planet will be healed only when the one who really controls it brings human history to a close. And the American people are putting their trust in a political savior who cannot save … a “Lightworker” who will, in fact, bring only darkness.

----I am more and more concerned for the direction this country is heading at the hands of the Left. The recent same-sex marriage ruling here in Ca., the senate bill that passed a while ago saying it was ok for boys who feel they are grls to use the girl's restroom. And offering counseling (in another state) for those who don't like it.

Another recent law in Colorado makes it ok in any public place for "transgendered" people to use opposite sex restrooms. Who cares about the vast majority who will not be comfortable to use the restroom with someone of the opposite sex in there. This opens up so many problems with sexual predators who were just given a green light on easier prey. As Chuck Colson points out, there will be no one at the door to check to make sure this person is transgendered. (All they have to say is yep, I am).

Obviously, not all these problems are from Obama, but I don't think he will be good for this country. Just as I don't think most liberals are helpful to the society as a whole.
