Hmm, I dunno. Perhaps this guy read the same silly book in 1st grade that I remembered reading or having read: it had this island in it that was a large landmass that balanced on top of a pointed landmass beneath it in the water. I still remember the illustration though not the name or details of the book. But that book left me with a fanciful sense of geography for years to come.

Yeah, I suppose that could be it. Though I do wonder if there is a difference between 1st grade geology and reality. :-)
