Is that Harry Potter world?

It’s the real world, in the original location of the Real World: NYC.

What you’re seeing is something that one New York resident recently misidentified on Yahoo! Answers and which others seemed not to recognize at all. It’s the Peace Fountain, on the large campus of the very large building known as the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. I happened upon the thing one day when I saw that a tour bus was parked outside the cathedral. I guess it is one of those peculiar artifacts that sort of hide right there under your nose for years without your noticing them. (Dinosaurs in Apple Valley ring a bell?)

That's pretty cool. I think you're right on with the idea that we often miss what is right in front of us.

But since it is captured in a more artistic fashion, it causes us to look closer.
