Chocolate is Awesome, But I'm Not Praying To It

This is stupid. These folks find a chunk of chocolate dripping and it's the Virgin Mary.
Since the discovery at Bodega Chocolates, Angiano's employees have spent much of their time hovering over the tiny figure, praying and placing rose petals and candles around it.

Please don't put the candles too close or it will start to look like melted chocolate. And praying to it? Are you kidding me? I know people are searching, but seek after the God who rose from the dead, not the one who rose from a vat of dripping chocolate.
Raising a son on her own, she has struggled with marital problems for months and said she was about to lose her faith. "I have big problems right now, personally, and lately I've been saying that God doesn't exist," she said, pulling the dog-eared prayer card out of her pocket. "This has given me renewed faith."

Holy Mother of God, are you serious? This seems utterly ridiculous to me. I know God can use different circumstances in our lives to turn our hearts to Him, but I highly, highly doubt He would use a chocolate Mary, especially when it turns folks to pray to the chocolate. Satan will use anything to deceieve. He has struck it big when gullible people are seriously moved to "see" and pray to a chocolate-drizzle-Virgin Mary.

Give me a break!

I wonder what will happen to these people when the chocolate melts. I mean, if they are going to pray to it, then they must believe in it. If my God melted, I would be devestated and scared to death. Good thing I don't have to pray to chocolate and hope it doesn't melt.

Peace and blessings.....

I saw you on another forum Derrick and you mentioned you had a blog spot so I thought I'd come by and leave some words here. I have to agree with you and Tracy totally on the Chocolate Mary situation. Like you stated Satan will use anything to deceive the people, and what's going to happen to their faith when the chocolate melts? I mean, if it's really from God, shouldn't the chocolate stay the way it is forever? Let's move those candles a lil closer....see what happens.

Shamms, welcome.
I think that perhaps that would take a bit too much faith to move the candle. I think this is a great illustration for the idea that it is not about simply having faith, but in what or whom your faith (trust) is in.

Thanks again for stopping by,
Derrick

Chocolate Mary, window grime Mary, tree branch Mary, frehshly baked bread Mary, and cookie Mary are just a few of the sightings that have made print in the last several years. None of them lasted. When I was a new Christian there was a big hoop-de-doo photograph that was a likeness of Jesus in the form of clouds. It was just a cool cloud, that's all. Like my great grandfather once said," Look to The Lord with the wisdom of your ancestors and the heart of a child". I always thought that was a cool saying.

Seems like good advise to me.
