Healing Prayer

I believe Prayer can and does work. I believe folks can be healed by prayer. I also believe that God has given some people the gifts and skills to be doctors. It is also important to use common sense, I think. This story reports on a kid who could have been "healed" had the family taken him to the doctor and not just prayed for him.

This is a sad thing, but I think when some people think they hear from God on certain things, sometimes they are wrong.

This family made a terrible mistake thinking they heard from God. Some folks think Jesus came back in 1914 because they "heard from God". Some folks think that Jesus came to the America's . Why? they "heard from God". Some folks think we ought to write in the name of someone to be President because they "heard from God".

I believe I have spoken on this before. The problem with this reason for doing something is that no one is allowed to question you because if they do, they are not arguing with you, but with God. Because of this "I heard it from God" stuff, He has made some idiotic choices and said and did some stupid things. Thanks a lot God.

That is, to paraphrase my daughter, "ca-ca". God does not make mistakes. You better be sure that what you are saying is truly from God, or shut your yap. Do not take God's name in vain by casually throwing out your dumb idea and letting God take the fall.

While this is not strictly the case of "hearing from God", it just remided me of a "new movement of the Spirit" out in Florida where the leaders profess hearing from God. And God told him to kick some lady in the face so she would be healed.

STR has a few blog posts on this topic. Here and here

Just because we claim we are speaking on God's behalf, does not mean we are. Especially when you hear a voice. It might not be God. Even if good things happen.

Derrick this spoke volumes to me. My oldest was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes one month ago today. We didn't know what was wrong with him, he was exibiting the usual symptoms, and he was close to death. Had we not sought out medical attention, or worse, even now told him to wing it and I put all my faith in God for healing, God would surely call him home. Instead, we give him 4 insulin shots a day, along with a prayer that He would touch Cameron's pancreas and heal it. We need both, not one or the other.
