Vestiges and Ergun Caner's False Apology (A Two-fer)

But wait: Caner has already apologized for each of the specific wrongs that he has said to have done, right?  Not so fast: Caner’s Apology, the Pope and Word-Faithers, Shawn McCraney, and A Bit of WLC | Alpha and Omega Ministries

Not everything goes down the memory hole very easily.  Even in modern American government and in liberal NYC one can find vestiges of Judeo-Christian influence of Western society.  For anyone who wanted to look at pictures today, here you go--straight out of Brooklyn:

The public record and the ability of things to slip through the cracks in spite of a purge are why, of course, liars and desperate people resort to obfuscation.

Caner Should Repent

The list of charges and/or evidence is much greater than what was posted at Wikipedia when I last looked.  In fact, the Wikipedia article was so woefully lacking that it might help to account for the claim that so-and-so has examined the evidence against Ergun Caner and found him not to be guilty of wrongdoing, hence their continued support of this man.

Remember: all the hounding is done not to destroy someone and then to leave him there in the dust.  This is done in hopes of repentance and godly behavior and it is done with a knowledge of what happens to a neighborhood when you don’t fix broken windows and remove graffiti.  This last analogy and figure of speech (it is off the cuff really) may or may not be fitting, but we all know and can appreciate that nobody wants a world where pathological lying is acceptable and evangelistic efforts are tarnished when people say, “Christians are liars, as much as infidels.”

Consider Turretin’s post not to be the be-all and end-all of the matter though.  I have merely skimmed through it so far and it looks like it is not as tight as it could be (which is not to say that the article is of low quality).

Christian Integrity or Hypocrisy?

Truth be told, as I first began to read this blog post I thought that James White had written it.  Of course, it turns out that I was mistaken and that this was a re-posting of a piece that had more or less been Canerized at a different website.  I would like to comment--and hope to do so as a follow-up piece--but the article itself is enough to think about and chew on for a long time:

By the way, if the careers of the likes of Jimmy Swaggart, Peter Popoff, or Charlton Pearson can survive or be revived after media scandals or dissolution of their ministry, why can’t Caner just fess up, lie low for a while, and wait for his public career to be brought back from the dead?  Oh, wait: somewhere along the line I think I answered my own question.
