I didn't read the whole thing, but I thought this quote was funny.

But the White House isn't happy about the newest exposure, saying the
president's image -- captured by The Associated Press during his
November trip to the Great Wall in Badaling, China -- is not supposed to
be used for commercial purposes.

"The White House has a
longstanding policy disapproving of the use of the president's name and likeness
for commercial purposes," White House spokesman Ben LaBolt said in a written
statement.

My question is this: What has been going on for the last year? His image has been ALL OVER THE PLACE for all kinds of commercial purposes. I just saw an Obama calender in the markdown section... at Target. Just sayin'. :-) His face has been all over the place...mugs, calenders, shirts, you name it and he's been on it. He is a star, folks.

At least Inside Edition recently named he and his wife some of the Top ten Stars of 2009. They have expressed more truth about the rise of Obama than many other news organizations.

Obama's Abortion, I mean Commencement Speech

What place does a talk on abortion have at a graduation speech? Obama spoke on Sun. to a crowd of graduating students at Notre Dame. Some protesters protested outside sometimes causing a disturbance, with some arrests.

But Obama called for "open hearts, open minds, fair-minded words" in the midst of such persistent debates.

He said the issue of abortion stands as the single greatest example of a controversy that tests Americans' ability to respectfully seek common ground.

He said the views of the two sides of the debate are "irreconcilable" but can be honored.

Is common ground possible? I think on the surface, it is sometimes possible. Many people say they are "persoanally against abortion". Of course, this "moderate pro-choice view often is followed with, "but I think women should be allowed to have them. This seems to be Pres. Obama's view, also.

The main propblem with this view is the primary question, "What Is the Unborn?" If the unborn is not an innocent human being, why should we limit or reduce or be against abortion? Have one! Everybody now!

IF the unborn is human, should we be allowed to kill the unborn for the reasons often given for abortion? The moderate pro-choice seems to be this if the unborn is human: "I am personally against abortion because it takes the life of an innocent human being, and women should be allowed to do it."

As Greg Koukl and Scott Klusendorf often say, If the unborn is not human, no justification for abortion is necessary; but if the unborn is human, no justification for abortion is adequate.

Obama Lifts Ban on Overseas Abortion Funding

President Obama on Friday lifted a ban on federal funding for international groups that promote or perform abortions, reversing a policy of his predecessor, George W. Bush.

---Why is the Left so concerned about killing the babies in all countries? Are the 3,000 a day here in the US not enough? It was sadly not a surprise, since this was one of the promises of Pres. Obama. So, in the spirit of unity, everyone gets to help pay for foreign abortions, whether you like it or not.

I thought Pres. Obama wanted to decrease abortions at one point in his campaign? I guess not enough to actually do anything about it. But, hey, the terrorists won't be mistreated anymore...

Obama: Let's Postpone Digital TV Switch

WASHINGTON — President-elect Barack Obama is urging Congress to postpone the Feb. 17 switch from analog to digital television broadcasting, arguing that too many Americans who rely on analog TV sets to pick up over-the-air channels won't be ready.

In a letter to key lawmakers Thursday, Obama transition team co-chair John Podesta noted that the Commerce Department has run out of money for coupons to subsidize digital TV converter boxes for consumers.

People who don't have cable or satellite service or a new TV with a digital tuner will need the converter boxes to keep their older analog sets working.

Obama officials are also concerned that the government is not doing enough to help Americans — particularly those in rural, poor or minority communities — prepare for and navigate the transition.

----Haha. This is silly. Government is NOT the answer to everything in this country. Pres-Elect Obama is worried that poor folks have TV to watch. I'm sorry. If you don't have TV shows to watch, your quality of life will NOT be worse. Plus, if you didn't prepare for the switch to digital (ie...get a free coupon), you need to just suck it up. We've know about this for, what, a year? Plus...uh...it is just TV.

After a brief interlude as the Secretary of Commerce nominee, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson (D) withdrew his name after questions arose about business deals with the state of New Mexico. Richardson's embarrassing exit only expands the cloud over the Obama administration, which faced its first serious test after Gov. Rod Blagojevich's seat-selling scandal in Illinois. The White House transition has given Americans some pause over the next President's vetting process for key leaders.

Here's the rest of the list of promises by Pres.-Elect Obama: How he plans to do this wihtout rasing taxes, I don't know. Maybe he'll ask those that donated to his campaign for more donations.

Environment

• Create 5 million green jobs.
• Implement a cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
• Get 1 million plug-in hybrids on the road by 2015.

Labor

• Sign a fair pay restoration act, which would overturn the Supreme Court's pay discrimination ruling.
• Sign into law an employee free choice act — aka card check — to make it easier for unions to organize.
• Make employers offer seven paid sick days per year.
• Increase the minimum wage to $9.50 an hour by 2009.

National security

• Remove troops from Iraq by the summer of 2010.
• Cut spending on unproven missile defense systems.

Taxes

• Give a tax break to 95% of Americans.

• Restore Clinton-era tax rates on top income earners.

• "If you make under $250,000, you will not see your taxes increase by a single dime. Not your income taxes, not your payroll taxes, not your capital gains taxes. Nothing."

• Dramatically simplify tax filings so that millions of Americans will be able to do their taxes in less than five minutes.

• Give American businesses a $3,000 tax credit for every job they create in the U.S.

• Eliminate capital gains taxes for small business and startup companies.

• Eliminate income taxes for seniors making under $50,000.

Politics: Lay Off "Joe the Plumber"

Here is a great quote from McCain on the media attack against "Joe the Plumber." Followed by Hot Air's comments.

Has The One’s campaign formally attacked J the P, though? I’d be shocked if they have, as that’s not their M.O. They like to leave the nastiest stuff, particularly in the racial vein, for their surrogates and for the media so that St. Barack can keep his hands clean. I assume Maverick’s accusing them of feeding oppo research on Wurzelbacher’s tax liens, etc, to the press under the radar, but even there I’m skeptical. Anyone think our very impartial media wasn’t willing to go dumpster diving on its own here?

I don't think the Obama camp formally attacked "Joe", but it does seem that the media does not like anyone to challenge their golden child. The media did not try to discredit the folks accused of yelling "kill him" (referring to Obama) at a Palin rally. It seems that would be more important than some who asks a qustion regarding Obama's Socialist idea of redistributing the wealth. But that's just me.

And the news media have not necessarily shown themselves to be anything close to objective this long election season.

This is an effective line of attack, especially on the funding issue. Obama pledged not to let his opposition to the war get in the way of funding troops in the field, and yet he voted against that funding. He wanted to impose timetables for precipitous withdrawal on the Bush administration, which would have crippled the surge, the successful strategy that has stabilized Iraq. It was a monumental error in judgment as well as a betrayal of Obama’s promise to the troops.

Geez, if McCain is right that often, why not just elect him President? I suspect that we’ll see even more ads on this subject. Note that this is ready to go on television as well as the Internet, and I’ll bet it gets significant play in battleground states for the next week or so.
